This archived report was the most comprehensive study on cancer in young adults in Canada. It identifies and interprets trends in cancer incidence and mortality in young adults.

The primary objectives are to:

  • identify and describe the most important forms of cancer in young men and young women ages 20–44 years in Canada in 1990–1999
  • examine and interpret the patterns and trends in incidence and mortality between 1983 and 1999 for these cancers and for important sub-groups
  • recommend priority areas for research, surveillance and policy
